What is RMP?
The intent of the RMP Certification program is to build on the simplicity inherent in efficient, high-quality running.
Introduction to the RMP Ecosystem
The courses available via the RMP Certification program are intended to educate professionals in one-day events that provide effective and easy-to-implement strategies for their athletes, patients and/or clients.
Professionals may decide to follow a single professional stream within the certification program, or progressively move through all of the courses to gain comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of physical preparation and rehabilitation related to running.
The RMP Level 1 Foundations course materials are essentially the “Starting Blocks” of the RMP Certification ecosystem. All participants will leave this course with a significant understanding of how to work with the majority of clients they are seeing on a daily basis. RMP Level 1 provides practitioners a strong foundation upon which they can customize prescriptions for their clients in a logical fashion.
The RMP Level 2 courses provide professionals with three distinct streams of practice. The RMP FIT course are directed at fitness professionals integrating running into their service delivery. The RMP Sport course provides in depth strategies for sport coaching practioners and specialists. RMP MED focuses on the rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols involving running and sprinting approaches.
RMP Level 3 courses provide a “deeper dive” into the specifics of all three streams of practice. Whether you are trying to peak a recreational runner for a marathon, working on position-specific movement for a professional football player, or developing a plan around the return-to-play process for an elite basketball player following achilles tendon surgery, RMP Level 3 coursework will provide you with a proven strategy for preparing a client/patient for a successful running outcome.

“I have known Derek Hansen for 18 years. During this time I have been very impressed with his overall knowledge of the training process and improving athletic performance. He also understands the recovery and rehabilitation. This gives him a unique ability to not only help strengths coaches but also assist sports medicine staff…I think any performance group from junior high to the professional level would greatly benefit from Derek’s expertise. Personally, he has been a great source of knowledge, information and advice over those past 16 years. If you or your team has an opportunity to spend time with Derek, it will be time well spent and will benefit you for years to come.”
Art Horne
Director of Performance Boston Celtics
“Derek was the first person we contacted both at the university and professional level to discuss application of sprint training, periodization and programming. His ability to translate very specific individual based programming to team sport and large group training is second to none. Without hesitation, Derek’s influence at both levels of sport has, and continues to directly impact our performance today.”
